red head villain

this would be my second post about red hair...call it shallow...i call it thought provoking.

why are gingers always made out to be the bad guy? it's a serious question. let's take a look at fictional characters:

victoria from twilight: goal in life=kill everything

carrot top (half fictional/half terrifying): stripped of every endorsement for being 1) cheap drunk 2) coke head 3) not commercially appealing

miranda (sex and the city): the ultimate wet blanket

maryjane from spiderman: tease

perhaps the most disappointing of all the red heads is lindsay lohan. i have always played for team lindsay. she caught my eye in parent trap as the awkward, freckly red head and as an awkward, freckly red head myself, i knew we shared something. as a young celebrity lover, i tried to find the celebrity that i could most identify with. sure, i shared a first and middle name with britney (jean) spears but how much could a chubby, braceface ginger have in common with a sexed up, catholic school girl, dancing machine? you can put an awkward ginger into a tube top with crimped hair but that does not make her a pop singer, people. it goes without saying that lindsay lohan was the answer to my prayers.

as i entered the "disney channel" years, i followed her career and religiously watched her made for tv movies. "get a clue"? get out of here! i was proud of my fellow ginge for reaching for the limits and starring in movies that my redheads and i dreamed about. like a loving fan, i turned a blind eye to her alleged "coke" problem and romp with random trashy celebrities. when the papparaazi snapped pictures of her getting out of a suburban without underwear, i'd defend her with "come on...who wears underwear anymore?"

but now my beloved lindsay is heading to the big house. we've been through cocaine, wilmer vanderrama, bleached blond hair and a failed music career but enough is enough. like a devoted parent, i've loved her through the worst and now it's time to let my little bird fly free.
